EC clarifies that shortages of ballot paper are not exclusive to the Volta Region.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that the shortages of ballot papers for the upcoming 2024 general elections are not confined to the Volta and Bono Regions, as previously reported. During an emergency meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) on November 29, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bossman Asare noted that regions such as Greater Accra, Western North, Upper West, Western, and Bono East are also facing similar shortfalls.

Dr. Asare confirmed that two letters were sent to political parties on November 22 and November 28 to inform them of the situation. He emphasized that the EC is committed to transparency and has initiated a reprint of ballots to address the shortages across these regions.

The commission urged political parties to disregard misinformation aimed at undermining public trust in the electoral process.

The EC has requested that each political party and independent candidate send two representatives to observe the printing process scheduled for November 29 at Acts Commercial Printing House in Accra, reinforcing their commitment to a credible electoral process.
