Urban-Blessed Writes; The NDC policies on welfare of Teachers and Nurses.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined several plans aimed at improving the welfare of nurses and teachers, as highlighted in their 2024 manifesto. Key proposals include:

1. Teacher Licensure Reforms: The NDC has promised to abolish the mandatory licensure exams for teachers. Instead, the licensing process will be integrated into their final year exams, streamlining the transition into the profession.

2. Incentives for Rural Service: To encourage professionals to work in underserved areas, the NDC plans to implement a 20% salary allowance for nurses and teachers who accept postings to rural regions. This initiative seeks to bridge the disparity in service delivery between urban and rural communities.

3. Teacher Accommodation: The party has introduced the “Teacher Dabrɛ” project, which involves providing housing facilities on school premises for educators. This policy will also ensure that new school infrastructure includes accommodations for teachers.

4. Vehicle Ownership Assistance: The NDC intends to assist teachers in acquiring vehicles through flexible payment plans and employer guarantees, in collaboration with teacher unions and financial institutions.

5. Job Creation and Expanded Infrastructure: The party pledges to improve healthcare and educational infrastructure to facilitate the prompt employment of nurses, teachers, and other health workers, addressing issues of job delays.

These policies are aimed at enhancing job satisfaction and addressing challenges faced by teachers and nurses in Ghana, particularly in rural areas【40】【41】【42】.
